"Silver and gold have I none,
but what I have, that I give you.
In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth,
get up and walk!"  (Acts 3:6).

The jubilee is a time for mission

In order for the Catholic faithful of the Archdiocese of Lingayen – Dagupan to be spiritually ready for the fiftieth (50th) anniversary of the elevation of Lingayen-Dagupan as a Metropolitan See, we are now celebrating a year long preparatory period for this milestone ecclesial event. The Year of Jubilee was launched last February 16, 2012 with the following events: concelebrated Mass and the Groundbreaking for the Mary Help of Christians Theology Seminary held at the Parish Church of San Fabian, the Rite of Opening of the Jubilee Door Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist in Dagupan, the Photo Exhibit for the Jubilee Year was formally opened too inside the Metropolitan Cathedral. A barrio fiesta reception at the church patio was joyously shared by everyone present. During this preparatory year for the golden jubilee every month there is an assigned jubilee of different sectors in the Archdiocese.

October 2012 was a Jubilee Month for the Consecrated Life. In recognition of the important task that men and women in consecrated life have in the mission of the Church and in the archdiocese in particular. The newly organized and established Association of Religious Men and Women in the Archdiocese of Lingayen Dagupan- (ARMWALD) spearheaded the celebration. There are twelve (12) men congregations and sixteen (16) women congregations working in the different schools, parishes and commissions in the archdiocese.

Since the Archbishop was in Rome for the Synod of Bishops – auxiliary Bishop Most Reverend Renato Mayugba, DD presided the Opening Mass last October 6, 2012. The Overnight Vocation Jamboree was scheduled on the evening of October 12 to the morning of October 13, 2012. The vigil was an opportune time for the Religious to encounter with young people in the Archdiocese and to promote vocations. The Vocation materials display was creatively and colorfully done by each congregation. There were four (4) talks during the Vigil. Sr. Marivic P. Ching, SJBP was requested to give the second talk on What is Religious Life? There were almost two thousand (2,000) young people both students and professionals came to celebrate with us! Each congregation was given five (5) minutes video presentation about the congregation. An hour was dedicated for the participants to visits the vocation booths. It ended with a Mass presided by the ARMWALD President Fr. Francisco Vargas, CM on the following day.

On October 11, 2012 the ARMWALD visited the Poor Clare Monastery – it was a wonderful time to bond with the contemplatives in the Archdiocese. After the Mass, the table fellowship followed.

On October 27, 2012 the closing Liturgy was celebrated at the Our Lady of Manaoag towards the end of the Mass all religious present had their consecration to our Lady. A sumptuous lunch was offered by the Dominican Fathers.

Our Sisters in Lingayen Community actively participated the different events this Jubilee Month for Consecrated Life. Archbishop Soc once said: “We are celebrating a year of grace. It is a blessed time to celebrate and blow our trumpets for the Lord.  The year of grace is a year of hope. We look beyond our horizon and see beyond the rainbow a renewed and revitalized Church courageously and boldly proclaiming God’s love and joy.”

sr Marivic Ching

What a wonderful initiative involving the whole diocese! Thank you for sharing with us all(world wide) this far reaching initiative. May the seeds the Lord has planted through the 'hands' of the collaborators bring fruits in abundance for the Church of the Philippines and beyond.
