It was last June 11, 2016 that the Pastorelle sisters arrived in the Diocese of Borongan, Eastern Samar through the invitation of Bishop. Most Rev. Crispin Varquez, D.D. The Provincial Council sent Srs. Josefina Labata and Lolita Guibac for a period of immersion of two years and in November 2017 they were joined by Sr. Rosario de Guzman.

Sr. Josefina was involved in the Diocesan youth ministry and Sr. Lolita in the Diocesan Commission on the Pastoral care of Migrants and their families; Sr. Rosario offered her pastoral care and presence in the Diocesan minor Seminary “Jesus de Nazareno” where 151 young high school boys are actually enrolled. The pastoral immersion helped us to know and understand the socio-cultural-ecclesial reality of the place and the pastoral needs of the Diocese.

After a period of pastoral immersion “ad experimentum” for two years, the community was formally constituted last May 31, 2018, composed of Srs. Rosario, Lolita and Rodelia Bordan who took the place of Sr. Josefina. A new house was built for them by the Diocese which was blessed last June 17, 2018 by the Bishop himself. Some priests, religious and lay friends were present during this celebration.

We are grateful to the Lord for the opportunity to serve His people in this portion of the Local Church, collaborating with the Bishop, the priest-directors in our respective Commissions and lay leaders. We are very grateful too for generous and kind-hearted persons who supported the Diocese in constructing our dwelling.
