KABANALAN (Holiness) – Our young people often equate holiness to the consecrated persons, our dear priests and nuns. However, the Diocese of Imus Youth Ministry dared to take this challenge in the lives of the young people today.
Last June 9, 2018, a total of 2, 433 young people gathered at Our Lady of the Pillar Seminary for KABISIG 2018 with the theme: “Ang Kabataan at ang Bokasyon sa Kabanalan.’ (The Youth and the Vocation to Holiness). These young people came from the 11 Vicariates of the Diocese of Imus, Cavite Philippines. A grand “Pit Senor” welcome was presented by the host, Vicariate of Sto. Nino followed by a warm welcome from our beloved Youth Ministry director Rev. Fr. Orlando Jimenez. He explained why use the term KABISIG for our diocesan youth assembly. Primarily, he mentioned about how we are being protected and held in God’s arms (Bisig ng isang Ama). Second, the term KABISIG is an acronym for KABataang KABiteno Iisang Sinasampalatayanan Iba’t iba ang Ginagampanan. With this assembly, the youth are invited to look beyond differences as parishes and the reality that we all believe and take part in the mission that Jesus entrusted in us.  Aside from KABISIG which is celebrated on the second Saturday of June, are two other events of the Diocesan Youth Ministry: the Youth Ministers’ Conference and Walk for a Cause (Hakbang Kabataan) which will happen every 30th of November and 25th day of February respectively.

Sr. Marites N. Perez, SJBP, the Diocesan Youth Coordinator, gave a brief inspirational message for the young people. She shared a poem where the initials were spelled as KABISIG, IMUS and K A B I T E inspiring the young to participate in this event joyfully as one big family of young people in the Diocese.

An educator and youth minister, Mr. Loreto San Juan was invited to give a talk in order to help the young people’s reflection on the theme. His talk revolved around the youth, vocation and holiness. He also shared the “isms” brought by globalization and the challenge for the young people to discover the real essence of JOY beyond globalization. JOY means Jesus first, Others next and Yourself last. The call, vocation, is to share in Jesus’ three-fold mission: Prophet – preach the Good News, Priest – offer sacrifices to God and King –to  serve and not to be served.

The afternoon of the festival was led by the Diocesan Coordinating Council (DYCC) through an engaging game which made all realize the insights of our young people from simple topics on birth order to favor our involvement in the Church as youth. To showcase the talents of the youth, presentations from the different Episcopal Districts were shown and well-appreciated by the audience.

The festival was concluded with a Eucharistic Celebration presided by the Bishop, Most Rev. Reynaldo G. Evangelista, D.D. with the director of the youth ministry and other concelebrating priests who are involved in the youth ministry.  Bishop Rey started his homily with words from Pope Francis on Life of Holiness.  “Go. Do not be afraid.  Let your heart never grow old.”  He ended the homily challenging the youth with practical ways in order to tread on the road towards holiness through studying hard, being honest, protecting the environment, honoring commitments, staying away from vices, respecting everything and everyone, praying and through the celebration of the Holy Eucharist

Very inspiring to see many young people the Pastorelle get in touch with. Dear sisters, may you be instruments for the seed of vocation to these young souls. Onward we journey with God's people.
