This song echoed all throughout this day as we celebrate the great feast of Mary, the Mother of the Good Shepherd. On this our jubilee year, it is but fitting to express our gratitude for the motherly presence and guidance of Mary, Mother of the Good Shepherd all throughout the 50 years of our existence in the Philippines. It is for this reason that we celebrated this feast for the first time in our newly built chapel dedicated in her honor which is found in Jesus Good Shepherd School, Imus Cavite.
The Eucharistic celebration happened in the morning with the main presider - Rev. Fr. Jose Aripio, SSP, the Provincial Superior of the Society of St. Paul. The members of the Basic Ecclesial Communities - BEC cells around the area of our school participated as well since they chose the same title of Mary as the Patron Saint of their cells.
This was followed by the Blessing and Groundbreaking of the new building site of Jesus Good Shepherd School. The new building is the School’s response to the K-12 program of the Department of Education that granted us the approval to open the Senior High School and accept students from public schools. There is a limited number of public schools who can cater to all students who will start their Senior High School next year.
Likewise, in thanksgiving to God for the gift of vocations to our Province, our Eucharistic Adoration in the afternoon was concluded with the Rite of Entrance to the Aspirancy of two young women – Daniela Alberto and Julie Gonzalo. Their families, relatives and friends joined us in prayer and the simple meal prepared by the Sisters.
Truly our hearts are filled with joy and gratitude for God’s countless blessings for 50 years. To God be the glory!
